Andrew Levi

Chairman of the Board

Andrew Levi is Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer of Blue Calypso. Mr. Levi is a seasoned serial entrepreneur having launched and sold several companies. Mr. Levi is the Founder and former CEO of Aztec Systems, Inc., a Dallas-based provider of mid-market ERP, managed services and related technology solutions where he was responsible for building the company since 1991 through its sale to a private equity firm in June 2012. Mr. Levi has been named to SmartPartner Magazine’s list of “50 Smartest People” in the technology industry and to D Magazine’s “Top Entrepreneurs under 40.” Mr. Levi has been involved in numerous business and association ventures in the technology industry such as Boardroom Software, Inc., Critical Devices, Inc., Aztec Business Solutions, L.L.P., REES Associates, the board of the International Association of Microsoft Certified Partners (IAMCP) and the Information Technology Solution Provider Alliance (ITSPA). Mr. Levi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Florida State University in addition to numerous technical certifications and ten U.S. Patents.

Jon Merriman

Board Member

As co-chairman and CEO of Merriman Holdings, Inc. (MERR), Jon Merriman is responsible for the overall strategic direction of the firm as well as working closely with the firm’s clients. He actively advises fast-growing public and private companies on complex capital market and financing issues, and works directly with growth oriented investors. With over 25 years of experience in the investment banking, brokerage and trading businesses, he brings deep experience in corporate turnarounds, capital markets insights and growing organizations. His extensive institutional and personal network and his trading experience give him a unique perspective when working with investment banking clients as well as institutional investors.

Prior to forming Merriman Capital, Merriman was Managing Director and head of the Wells Securities (WFS) equity group, formerly First Security Van Kasper (FSVK), and served on FSVK’s Board of Directors. As a result of a financing completed by WFS, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of Ratexchange Corporation, a publicly traded telecommunications company. Merriman was subsequently appointed Chairman and CEO of Ratexchange, which he restructured into Merriman Curhan Ford, now known as Merriman Capital. Merriman Capital grew from six people and $1 million in revenues to over 200 employees and $90 million in revenues in 2007. Over the course of his finance career, he has served on more than 10 private and public company boards.

He has been a frequent guest on Bloomberg TV as well as CNBC’s show “Fast Money,” and a regular contributor to financial publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s and The Daily Deal. He is an active collector of emerging artists and served on the boards of the San Francisco Art Institute and the Santa Monica Art Museum. Merriman holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College and is based in the firm’s San Francisco office. Merriman currently chairs the advisory board of True Drinks Holdings (TRUU).

Dennis Schmal

Board Member

Dennis Schmal, a senior business advisor specializing in the financial services and technology industries, was appointed to the board of directors and will chair the audit committee. Schmal spent 27 years with Arthur Andersen, primarily as a partner.

Dennis’ primary activity for most of his Andersen career was selling and overseeing the provision of a wide variety of services offered by Andersen. In this capacity, he headed hundreds of consulting projects, mainly for financial services-type business enterprises. Projects covered almost all facets of business, including operations, systems, capital planning, financial instruments, strategic, mergers & acquisitions, executive recruitment and initial and secondary public offerings. Since retirement from Andersen, Dennis has held numerous board positions including his current one with Keiretsu Forum, the world’s largest venture capital angel investment group.

Dennis graduated summa cum laude from California State University, Fresno in 1972 with a BS in Business Administration- Finance and Accounting Option. Dennis holds a CPA certificate (retired).

Charlie Thomas

Charlie Thomas is the SVP Sales for Centro and the Founder/President of Step Ahead Strategies. Centro is a Media Logistics company headquartered in Chicago and Step Ahead Strategies is a sales & marketing consulting firm based in Dallas. Mr. Thomas has been on the front lines of Internet advertising and marketing since February 1995 when he helped start Time Inc.’s online sales organization. He became their first VP of Online Sales and was a founding member of The IAB. Mr. Thomas joined as VP Advertising Sales in 1998. Yahoo purchased and he was Regional Sales Vice President until 2007 when he was made Vice President of Display Sales Strategy. Mr. Thomas left Yahoo in 2008 and started SAS. SAS clients include Martha Stewart Living, The Kellogg Company, Premiere Health Care, Universal McCann, Mediavest, Yahoo, Waterfront Media, Katalyst Digital, Next New Networks, The Dallas Morning News,, Vitrue, Appssavvy, Gilt City, Centro, The Upstream Group, The Meredith Corporation, Screenvision and Rocket Fuel.
